And...HE'S OFF!! And...So It Begins.

Isaac is officially mobile! He's not exactly graceful, but he's got his knees under him and he's taking official crawling steps with knees and hands cooperating with each other. He's constantly on the move and it has interrupted his sleeping. It's like he's on speed or something then he crashes finally after rolling around on me to the point of exhaustion - both of us. Last night he wanted to keep moving so long that finally he was just wallering all over me with his eyes closed and his head wobbly until he laid his head on my shoulder and literally passed out. He was so cute, but I was a slobbery mess by the end. Izabel is not sure about what to make of it. She is so gentle, but she looks at us like "What happened to the blob?! He used to just lie there and now he's chasing me down and taking my toys! Then, when he gets me, he pinches me or pulls my ears!" She usually ends the night crawling up on the couch with her ears low and her tail tucked. I think she's caught on that he can't get up on the couch yet. She such a good dog.

Here's a video - I hope you can see it. My camera takes such dark video - you may want to turn off the lights to see it better. I hope it uploads ok.

My husband's friend from work, Eric and his wife Kate invited us over for dinner (again - yummy - Eric is a supurb cook) the other night. We took Izabel over for a play date with their daughter with fur, Abby. After dinner, we had juicy watermelon. As you can see from the pictures, Isaac shared a piece with mommy. By the end, we were both very sticky and sweet.

Before I leave you, Isaac has begun fake crying to get what he wants. Yes, at 8 months old, our child is trying to manipulate us. At first, I thought he was choking or having a coughing fit. I was feeding him his favorite treat - strawberry yogurt melts - and he started making an awful noise. I picked him up and was looking in his mouth to see if he was choking on a yogurt melt. He started wiggling around and I got a little scared because I thought - "Oh, no he can't breathe!" I saw that he was breathing fine and realized he was wanting the treats. I gave him one and he was quiet, looked up at me, and smiled wide. I think that was a big mistake, but I was just so glad that he was breathing!

As Aunt Lizzie said to me, "And so it begins."

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend was relaxing, yet eventful. Saturday was a lazy at-home day – which we needed. Sunday was family day!! Isaac and I woke up and got ready for our day of family time (Daddy had to work – big bummer!). We left our house and went to Aunt Chrissy's to follow her to Great Aunt Pat's cabin. While we all ate, Isaac nibbled on some pasta salad that I shared with him and he had his first taste of watermelon – which he loved. There were lots of people there and we had lots of fun together!

This is my husband's cousin's little boy Eli (2 ½ years old). He liked Isaac and even gave him kisses! I'm sure he'll teach Isaac some very fun stuff as they get older.
How are you supposed to keep the blanket clean when there is so much dirt around?

Shanna, Caleb, Cassie and Kota enjoying the day.

There are always games of baseball and horseshoes occurring at the cabin!

The two newest moms of the family with their little boys! It was so nice to talk to Jennifer (my husband's cousin) and meet her little boy Aiden (2 months old).

Christina (my husband's cousin's wife and Eli's mom), Jennifer, and I have our little boys (Christina is having another little boy – Chase Wesley – in September). We tried to get Eli in the picture, but 2 ½ year old little boys have too many other things to do!!! We all imagined what next year's Memorial Day get-together would be like with four little boys running around! We can't wait!

Isaac loves his grandma!

The resemblance is uncanny – especially because there is no blood relation – must be the hair!

Aunt Chrissy…sigh…we love her.

Eric (my husband's cousin) and his new fiancĂ©. Shanna (my husband's cousin) and her boyfriend Caleb, who is a former student of mine – small world! It's a good thing I like this kid since I'll see him at family gatherings J!

After a nice afternoon at Aunt Pat's cabin, we headed up to the farm. We ate well – again, and had a relaxing bonfire. My camera batteries went dead and I only got one picture of the Wotring gathering, but I got really good video! I like the one picture I got, though. Aunt Lizzie gives the best kisses (besides mommy and daddy of course).

That was Isaac's favorite Memorial Day Weekend of his whole life!!

He's getting older!
